EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

SPORTS CLINICS

Apart from the enjoyment to be had in well-organized sports, Oaklawn Academy strives to ensure that its clinics offer more than healthy recreation. Well monitored sports activities increase the students’ self-confidence, ability to work in a team and willingness to accept and meet challenges.

Students choose two clinics for every term (Fall, Winter A, Winter B and Spring), during each term they practice each activity twice a week. The sports clinics offered are:

ARCHERY, BASEBALL, BASKETBALL, CLIMBING, CONDITIONING, GOLF, HORSEBACK RIDING, HOCKEY (ICE OR ROLLERBLADE), SOCCER (INDOOR AND OUTDOOR), KARATE, AND TENNIS.

ARTS & MUSIC

Oaklawn Academy believes that a student’s aesthetic sensitivity and creativity must also be developed; our Arts and Music program pursues this aim. In addition to the music appreciation classes and beginning instrumental lessons, other opportunities are available such as small group or individual piano, drums and guitar classes.Other areas of artistic development are the vocal choir and painting lessons.

WEEKLY OUTINGS

Every week students have a day trip; sometimes they will go hiking to one of the many beautiful State Parks in the area. Visits to museums and other places of interest in cities such as Chicago, Milwaukee and Madison are part of the program.

Other times they go to Six Flags Great America or to water parks in Wisconsin Dells. During the winter months they have weekly ski outings to Devil’s Head Ski resort.
They also go to professional baseball, basketball, or soccer games. In addition there are outing when they go bowling, ice skating, climbing or participate in other fun activities.

EXTENDED TRIPS

A ten-day trip to Italy including visits to the Vatican, the Coliseum and other beautiful places of Rome is scheduled for December. Other cities included in the itinerary are Florence, Pisa and Maranello. Spending Christmas close to the Holy Father is one of the highlights of a year at Oaklawn Academy.

For Easter vacations the students travel to Washington, DC, Philadelphia and New York City where they learn more about the history and culture of the United States and also have the opportunity to enjoy a Broadway show and professional sports games.
