Improving his creativity

Our students have many opportunities to experience the Arts. They can practice their skills, or learn new hobbies with our 8-week “Interest Clubs”. Drawing and painting, video making, cooking, shooting, yearbook, horsemanship, chess are a few of the “Interests” we offer to students.

The Annual Talent Show is an opportunity for our students to exhibit their artistic abilities and talents to their classmates and the Oaklawn staff.

Exposure to the arts is also enriched by visits to museums, concerts and movies, during weekly outings and special outings.

Music

Each of our students is enrolled in the general music course.  He will receive two 50 minute classes in music each week.  The music course is designed to give each Oaklawn student an exploratory experience in which he will study a variety of topics related to the appreciation and performance of music.

The topics of study for the course include:

1. BASIC MUSIC THEORY

I Students  develop  skills  related  to  note  reading,   note  writing,  rhythmic  accuracy, pitch and sound production.
